Twenty-one people indicted in Forest Park Medical Center illegal kickback scheme

Surgeons and healthcare executives were of the 21 people indicted by a federal grand jury in Dallas in conjunction with the Forest Park Medical Center kickback scandal.
Forest Park Medical Centers, now closed, was a chain of five high-end, doctor-owned hospitals in North Texas. They catered to upscale patients and did not accept Medicare, Medicaid, or plans sold through the Affordable Care Act. Owners of the hospital, an out-of-network facility, intentionally refused to join insurance networks, allowing physician investors to profit from higher reimbursement rates.
This lead to hundreds of millions in profits.
The hospital network would also offer physicians kickbacks so they would schedule surgeries in Forest Park facilities.
